Strength training for 40 and beyond
Stronger after 40.
You’re not starting over. You’re building forward. Fit40Strong builds a strength programme around your experience, your schedule and how you like to train.
- Built around your schedule
- Planned recovery and warm-ups
- Your preferences, not assumptions
Building forward
Sample dataMost programmes are written for 22-year-olds with free evenings.
- Six days a week doesn’t fit a job, a family and a commute.
- Maximal-effort-every-session plans leave you too sore to come back.
- Or the opposite: “gentle” plans that assume you can’t lift anything.

Questions
Is it too late to build muscle after 40?
No. Muscle and strength respond to training at any age. Progress depends far more on consistency, effort and recovery than on your date of birth.
I have an old injury. Can I still use it?
You can tell the plan which movements to avoid and it will substitute them. It’s not a rehab programme — for anything current or painful, see a physiotherapist first.
Do I need an account before seeing my plan?
No. Answer the questions, see your actual generated plan, then create a free account if you want to save it.
How does it know what weight I should lift?
From your own logged sets, not from a model guessing. It uses double progression: you work up within your rep range at a fixed weight, and once every working set reaches the top of that range, the weight goes up by the right step for that lift. If a lift has not moved for three sessions it says so and suggests backing off.
Is this actually free? What’s the catch?
The free plan is a real, usable programme. You get a new plan and nutrition targets every month, guided workout mode with last session’s numbers filled in, the rest timer, automatic personal records and your full logbook — free, permanently. Premium works out what to lift next and why, charts trends, adapts your plan from your log, and adds the AI coach.
Is this medical advice?
No. Plans and targets are general fitness guidance. If you have a medical condition, an injury, are pregnant, or have a history of disordered eating, talk to a qualified professional before starting.
